Symptoms
How does skin tag look?
They develop like small soft skin colored to darkly pigmented pedunculated outgrowth with narrow base attached to skin and gradually increase in size.
They occur on areas where skin rubs on itself or clothing. They are most seen on neck and armpits. Other areas include eyelids, thighs, under breasts, buttocks and groin folds. Usually they are asymptomatic outgrowth but they become symptomatic when caught on jewelry or rubbed by clothing. Sometimes in large skin tags due to torsion of its peduncle it may appear red or black as result of infarction.
Treatment
Is there any diagnostic test for skin tag?
Dermatologist can diagnose skin tags easily by clinical examination. Rarely they may need to differentiate from other tumor like neurofibroma or dermal nevus. Some investigations may be required to rule out underlying systemic disease like diabetes, dyslipidemia or insulin resistance.
How are Skin Tags treated in Jaipur?
Skin tags are harmless. The only reason for their removal is either they are looking aesthetically displeasing or causing you discomfort. There is no skin tag removal cream.
If you’re seeking skin tag treatment in Jaipur, you have several options available. Here are some common methods used for skin tag removal:
Radiofrequency ablation: First, a local anesthetic is injected around the skin tag. This is followed by the removal of the growth by fine needle using radiofrequency ablation (RFA) Cautery. An antibacterial ointment is applied after the treatment. Usually, this process takes 15-20 minutes. A soft scab forms over the treated area that falls off after a few days.
Laser Skin tag Removal: It is done by CO2 laser. After giving local anesthesia removal is done by Co2 laser which is faster than RFA. Large lesions can be removed easily. Post CO2 laser skin tag removal wound care is also very minimal.
Cryotherapy: Here, the skin tag is frozen using a probe containing liquid nitrogen. Following the treatment, a blister forms around the skin tag/wart and it falls of along with the dead tissue eventually in 1-2 weeks. It can be a bit painful.
Ligation: Tying a suture around its neck cuts the blood supply to the skin tag.
Excision: This is usually considered when other treatments have not worked. The skin tag is excised using surgical scalpel/scissors.
TIPS
- Maintain a healthy life style
- Regular exercise and healthy diet
- Don’t rub or pull or rotate the skin tag.
- Try to get removal as soon as possible as smaller skin tag removal will not leave any scar.
