What is microneedling radiofrequency treatment ?

Microneedling Radiofrequency or MNRF is a procedure which combines the benefits of Microneedling and Radiofrequency (thermal energy) to induce collagen remodelling. Collagen remodeling helps in improving skin texture and skin tightening.

What are the indications of MNRF treatment?

It is used to improve the appearance of following:

• Scars
• Stretch marks
• Open pores
• Fine lines
• Wrinkles
• Skin sagging

Also used for Skin rejuvenation and pigmentation treatment in combination with other modalities.

How does MNRF work?

As the name suggests this procedure uses Microneedling and Radiofrequency together. As the microneedles (which have diameter smaller than hair), move over your skin, they deliver RF energy deep into the skin. There is collagen induction by dual process:

Collagen induction through Microneedling: Microneedling creates minute channels of microinjuries in the skin tissue, which kick starts the wound healing mechanism of the body and in the process repairs and remodels the collagen.

Collagen induction through Radiofrequency: The RF beam creates fractional heat zones as it delivered deep into the skin, leaving normal tissues in between to enhance repair. Heat induces collagen synthesis and tightening while keeping the surface if skin unaffected by heat.

What happens during the procedure?

A local anaesthetic cream/numbing cream is applied in the area to be treated 30-45 minutes prior to the procedure. During the procedure, the RF energy is carefully delivered, choosing the settings according to your skin type and condition. You may feel slight pinching sensation during the procedure. The procedure takes 30-40 minutes.

What do I expect after the procedure?

As it is a minimally invasive process, you may experience some redness, swelling and discomfort post procedure. This resolves completely in 2-3 days. In some cases, scab formation may be seen, which heals in 3-7 days.

What about the post care?

It is recommended that you follow strict sun protection after the procedure. Avoid stepping out in sun 2-3 days after the procedure. Use sunscreen prescribed by your doctor, even when indoors. Avoid prolonged sun exposure 10-15 days post procedure. Do not undergo any aesthetic procedure without consulting your doctor.

When will I see the visible results?

This depends on what is being treated. Generally multiple sessions are required and are spaced a month apart. Results are visible as follows:

• Textural smoothening: 2 weeks
• Fine lines and wrinkles: After 3-4 sessions
• Acne scars: After 6-8 sessions
• Stretch marks: 8-10 sessions

Is MNRF treatment safe for dark skin?

Yes. For dark and tanned skin this treatment is safer that Laser skin resurfacing as melanin in your skin doesn’t affect the safety and result of the procedure.
