What are fillers made of ?

Fillers are categorized by nature of substance they are made of.

1. Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

Hyaluronic acid naturally present in our skin and its function is to maintain hydration and keep our skin plum and young. With age the functioning and amount of HA decreases. HA fillers are gel like soft susbtance. Our body gradually absorbs the HA so the results are temporary lasting 1 year to 1.5 years. They are available as pre-filled syringes which are premixed with anesthetic agents to minimise discomfort of procedure. Our clinic uses only FDA approved HA fillers which are:

2. Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA)

It is also naturally present in our bones. In fillers, microscopic particles of calcium mixed with gel like substance giving little thicker consistency than HA fillers. They are little more long lasting than HA fillers. It is used for deep wrinkles. FDA approved CaHA filler is Radiesse.

3. Poly-L-lactic Acid

It is a biocompatible and biodegradable synthetic substance that helps our skin by rebuilding natural collagen. It is used to treat deep wrinkles. Results of this filler treatment last for about 2 years. FDA approved PLLA filler is Sculptra.

4. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)

It is biocompatible synthetic substance that takes the form of a microsphere tiny balls under the skin and provide indefinite support. FDA approved PMMA filler include Bellafill.

5. Autologous fat transfer

It is a surgical treatment in which patient’s own fat (autologous) is harvested from another area and then the fat is processed to make it in injection form.

What will I experience during the procedure?

Before treatment

During treatment

The area toi be treated will be cleaned and topical numbness cream can be applied as per need. Depending on cosmetic concern and filled used some immediate results will be seen just after treatment and in next 10-14 days dermal fillers draw water, hydrate and deliver results. As a result, wrinkles and folds are smoothened, the volume is restored, and the skin is rejuvenated. Some patients may observe mild swelling and bruising in treatment area that resolve within 3-5 days.

How soon will I see results?

You can see some extent of results as soon as the procedure is over. A significant effect of a filler injection may take 2-3 weeks to be visible.

How long will the results last?

Dermal fillers give long-lasting results. How long your results will last depend on age, the area being treated, type of filler used and your lifestyle. For example the results for HA fillers last for 12-18 months. As a general rule, filler which is denser and placed deeper, the longer it will last. filler
